Gizzen Briggs comperes for the evening (L-R); Mary MacGillivray, Amber Godsman and Fiona McKeachan
▪ Date/Time Original:
Gizzen Briggs, a group consisting of a large number of pupils from Tain Royal Academy, playing a concert in Tain's Duthac Centre on Thursday 22nd June, 2006. 45 players were expected, but the concert was delayed a little as 54 actually turned up and the stage seating had to be re-jigged to accommodate the extra players!
The wait, however, was well worth while as once again the Briggs pulled off a very entertaining and musically accomplished evening, including a number of Gizzen Briigs' "premieres" and tunes written by some of the players themselves.
The concert came about as, for the past two years, the Anna Massie Band have supported Gizzen Briggs' Fiddlers' Rally. It was only fair that Gizzen Briggs gave Anna the opportunity to headline, so this time it was Gizzen Briggs who opened the evening, before a typically powerful, soulful and humourous set from Anna, Jenn and Mairearad of the Anna Massie Band.
